Mr. Laxman is best known for his iconic common man sketches, says Vaikundarajan.   Through his iconic character of the common man, Laxman has held a mirror to the society by creating satire targeting politicians for more than five decades. Back in 2010, Mr. Laxman suffered a series of strokes which would affect the right side of his body. These strokes severely impeded his speech. Even in such conditions he continued to follow a stringent schedule and resume sketches of his common man cartoon.
