Mahalaya
With the onset of September, Hindus all over the world get excited about festivities. Mahalaya is an auspicious occasion that marks the new moon, seven days before Durga Puja and sign of the arrival of Durga, the goddess of supreme power.  Vaikundarajan wishes everyone on the occasion of Mahalaya and hopes that the festive season brings peace and prosperity to all.

Since the early 1930s, Mahalaya has come to associate itself with an early morning radio program called ‘Mahisasura Mardini’ or the total destruction of the Demon. This All India Radio (AIR) program is a beautiful audio medley of narration from the scriptural verses of Chandi Kavya, Bengali devotional songs and classical music.  The whole of Bengal rises up early on Mahalaya day to tune in to the ‘Mahisasura Mardini’ broadcast shares, Vaikundarajan.  Vaikundarajan believes that this time of the year is extremely special for all of us as it sparks up the light of joy in our hearts. Festivals are very important to us and we should celebrate it with utmost delight. Vaikundarajan hopes that this year too will bring a lot of happiness in all our lives.
