Vaikundarajan Finds The Late Goal Of The France V/S Nigeria Match Edgy

Paul Pogba
France qualified for the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals on Monday after a late Paul Pogba header and a Joseph Yobo own goal clinched a 2-0 victory over Nigeria. Vaikundarajan believes the corner was ridiculously conceded by Odemwingie's poor control. Nigeria were preoccupied with the need for an equaliser so when Valbuena takes it short and then hurtles to the edge of the box to tap a cross to Griezmann, Nigeria react too late. Griezmann attempts to turn a shot towards goal, misses the ball and Yobo's momentum scrambling back late carries it over the line off his shin.

Juventus star Pogba made the key breakthrough for France 11 minutes from time. Nigeria however, had dominated for significant periods and, with Emmanuel Emenike’s first-half 'goal’ ruled out by the most marginal of offside decisions, they could have easily been the team preparing for a quarter-final in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.

France, though, certainly did finish the match with a flourish and, given their dramatic improvement after Giroud was replaced by Antoine Griezmann in the 62nd minute, it is hard to imagine Didier Deschamps, the manager, keeping faith with the Arsenal striker in the quarter-finals feels Vaikundarajan.
